The Snow is Falling! The Snow is Falling!
… well, not quite yet, but we are quivering with anticipation! I would like to send a shout out to Jill and my other Northern friends for potentially sending me one last snow hoorah down here South of the Mason Dixon. You are the best ever!!!!!!! XOXOXOX

View of the last snow we had – which incidentally shut down the whole Commonwealth also…
For anyone North who may be unaware of our Southern state customs, those of us that live in the South – doesn’t matter if you were born and bred or a transplant like me – run to the nearest store with reckless abandon, filling our shopping carts with milk, bread, and/or toilet paper as if we were all on an episode of Hoarders. Why those three items? No one knows – but you MUST buy at least one of those three when a winter storm is in the forecast – at least here in Virginia. I am not sure when the Virginia General Assembly passed the law, but it had to be over 20 years ago as I have lived here on and off since 1992 and it has always been that way. In fact, I think they make you move out of the Commonwealth is you don’t comply with this regulation. 😉
So… I got my milk, thus I am happy to say I will be permitted to remain in the Commonwealth for at least a little longer. What about you???? Is there something you are mandated to buy during a snow storm forecast? Are you in the clear??? I would LOVE to hear if this is a Federal law I haven’t picked up on (the whole milk, bread, and toilet paper thing) or if it is just a Commonwealth of Virginia thing….

Candles at the ready – awaiting the snow
In the meantime, please join me in one of my favorite celebratory childhood winter traditions: watching this seasonal commercial (you know you grew up near Johnstown, Pennsylvania if you know this video).
Lots of heart warming love sent your way as you hunker down for your winter storm~

Did you get your snow? Yes, I believe it must be a federal law because all of Colorado reacts the same way when they start predicting a big storm. It has to be a “big” one, though. Honestly I don’t feel compelled to go to the store unless we are out (or almost out) of one of those “big 3”! Happy Snow Day!
No snow yet – it will be this evening, and we are right on the precip line so I am asking my Northern friends to blow this baby just a little more South (here is keeping my fingers crossed).
I dreaded working at the grocery store when a big snow was called in Pa. We would be so busy. People bought the same top 3 items and tons of junk food. Like they would be snowed in for weeks. Now here in Md it’s the same. But now I work in a candy store and everyone is buying sweets to survive the snow.
…so perhaps it is a broader law than I first assumed — a Federal law? 😉 (Stay warm – we got to see snow yesterday but none of it even stuck this farSouth…)
